General Rules and Information

Games are played according to the above rules.

Junior Mixed team must have both boys and at least 1 girl in the team. Whilst there are no requirements for having a girl on the court at all times, all coaches must provide equal playing time opportunities for girls in the teams regardless of skill, size or ability.

Games commence by 12.30 pm. 10 minutes grace will be granted before a forfeit unless there is a mutual agreement between the parties concerned.
Skill Development Rounds (Rounds 1 and 2)
The first two rounds of the competition will operate as skill development rounds, and no points will contribute to the competition standings. Coaches are encouraged to treat these rounds as teaching opportunities to teach all students about gameplay, rules etc.
Results and Points

Both teams must agree to the score/runs before leaving the ground. If this does not happen and a score is disputed once teams have left the venue, both teams will be awarded 2 points each.

Points will be allocated: Win – 3 points, Draw – 2 points, Loss – 1 point. In the event of a forfeit, the non-forfeiting team will receive 3 points. The forfeiting team will receive 1 point. If a round of Friday Sport Is called off, e.g. due to rain/extreme temperatures, all teams will receive 3 points regardless of whether they were to play or had a bye.

Both schools must submit results via Google form by 12:00 pm on the following Monday. No points will be awarded to a school that has not submitted its results by 12:00 pm on the following Monday, even if the results have been received from the opposing team. Refer to Zone By-Law 13.
Determination of Semi-finals and Finals

Schools will be ranked based on the overall point score, following the last scheduled match on Friday 10 November. Matches will not be rescheduled due to wet weather.

If teams are tied on points, placings will be determined by point differential (points for and against).

If teams are still equal, refer to the most recent result of those two teams playing against each other. The winning team will be given the higher ranking.
Semi-finals 1st v 4th 2nd v 3rd
Finals The two winning teams from the semi-finals will play in the final.
Zone Boys Basketball Trials
IWPSSA/WSPSSA/WPPSSA combined Zone Boys’ Basketball trials will be conducted at Strathfield North Public School on Friday 22 March 2024, between 3:30 – 5:00 pm
Students will need to organise private transport to and from the venue.
Please only nominate boys who are of a representative standard (i.e. they play basketball regularly for a club or district on a weekend. Schools ARE NOT obliged to nominate students.
Zone Girls Basketball Trials
IWPSSA/WSPSSA/WPPSSA combined Zone Boys’ Basketball trials will be conducted at Strathfield North Public School on Friday 22 March 2024, between 3:30 – 5:00 pm
Students will need to organise private transport to and from the venue.
Please only nominate girls who are of a representative standard (i.e. they play basketball regularly for a club or district on a weekend. Schools ARE NOT obliged to nominate students.
